The current generation of heads of state or general directors has formed in conditions of saving fossil fuels and hardly understands that the necessary environmental actions are not costs, but investments.

Our team sincerely believes that the “green revolution” will be as effective as the “Internet revolution” or “industrial revolution” in terms of innovation and employment, as well as investment opportunities.
Our goal is to solve problems in a new way, combining the experience and network of our team with digitalization and blockchain, which are powerful resources for implementation and success.

Our research shows that the transportation sector is ideal for minimizing carbon emissions, and that the correct disposal of its used oil is even negative.

COI, short for Carbon Offset Initiative, closely reflects both our intentions and the specific results we are striving for: carbon offsetting by optimizing the bunker-fuel-to-energy cycle and managing waste and emissions. This optimization process makes the reduced carbon in fuel oil negative, because unlike crude oil it does not need to be explored, extracted, refined and transported, thereby significantly reducing the carbon footprint.

Project synopsis

Industry, information, consumption and global economic growth create a huge burden on the environment of our planet and future sustainable development.

However, one thing that everyone seems to be underestimating is that we live on a planet with limited physical resources, and we use them beyond any reason and produce more and more waste and emissions.

At the same time, legal requirements for tracking and proving the complete disposal or destruction of non-recyclable waste, as well as for reducing emissions, are becoming more stringent and more stringent around the world. The ever-increasing production of waste poses a serious challenge for tracing and proper disposal.

Scientists, industrialists and governments are trying to solve the problems associated with waste and emissions. Despite the lack of time, such global problems are solved locally, that is, too slowly.

INITIATIVE DECISION OF A CARBON OFFSET

Having rich experience in waste processing, we were deeply involved in the reality of the processes of processing oily water and slopes. There are three key issues for shipping companies and owners:

Is the disposal work carried out legally, timely and efficiently for a given quantity?

Are parties involved paid in accordance with agreements and minimum cash payments?

After we identified the control problem as the main cause of illegal fuel leakage and theft, we developed an economical, easy to use and operate solution for remote monitoring of the bunker and waste processing (Figure 1) based on the blockchain. Our solution consists of two levels: hardware, consisting of measuring and telecommunication devices, and software.

The COI platform can be adapted to the needs of shipowners (emissions, speed, location, weather, etc.)
Our system is designed to be adaptable, and its configuration meets customer needs.

For example, a client can select part or all of the solution from the above scheme, from managing and optimizing its consumption and emissions to controlling the full “bunker fuel to sludge”.

Our system includes both hardware and software levels:
Hardware layer (in blue):
The hardware consists of devices that collect and transmit the collected data.

Vessels will be equipped with automated devices for:
Measure the amount of bunker fuel and sumps in their respective tanks at each stage of the process, from loading the bunker fuel on the boat to the disposal of sumps;

Potentially measure cargo (tankers);
Measure the density and composition of oily water at several levels in the tank to monitor the quality of sludge;
Record some external parameters that potentially affect consumption and emissions;

Transmission of measurements via GSM or satellite to control centers.
Waste treatment plants would have installed similar devices to measure the quantity and density of the resulting sumps to be treated. A telecommunications device would also transmit these measures, and after processing, the amount of solid residues, water and oil recycled from the original sump.

Upon request, port collectors and conveyors can also be equipped with devices for measuring the quantity and density of collected and transferred catches.
